GEOTHERMAL
Geothermal uses the constant temperatures within
the earth to comfortably heat your home.
While air temperatures may vary wildly above the ground based on seasons, weather, and the time of day, the temperatures 10 feet below ground are consistently between 50°F and 60°F. A geothermal system leverages these constant temperatures to warm your environment, transferring heat from the ground (or in some cases a body of water) into homes and buildings during cold weather.
There are several types of geothermal heat pumps, but here in Colorado we rely primarily on ground source heat pumps which are connected to a series of pipes buried either horizontally or vertically beneath the ground. When ground temperatures are warmer than air temperatures, thermal energy is moved from the ground into your home or commercial building, efficiently heating your environment using the earth’s own heat. Because heat is only being transferred, not generated, the energy costs are a fraction of traditional heating systems like natural gas, propane, boilers, or electric resistance (baseboard) heat.

“Chris Butts is the only person I would trust to install a heating/cooling unit for me. I first met Chris when I purchased an older home that needed a new HVAC unit. He gave me several options for units that were energy efficient and I chose a geothermal system. Chris and his crew were prompt and very respectful of my property, installing the unit in the dead of winter with snow falling and frigid temperatures. ”

If you’ve ever considered investing in a geothermal system, the time to act is now before federal tax credits expire in 2021.
